JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) - Jackson Mayor Chokwe A. Lumumba delivered his 2024 State of the City address on Thursday.
The mayor spent most of his time talking about the progress that's been made under his administration, including crime being down across all categories. He said crime has seen a downward trend in the last three years.
“We have experienced a 21% decrease in property crimes and a 36% decrease in crimes against persons," said Lumumba.
WJTV 12 News has been covering the temporary closure of Thalia Mara Hall. We asked the mayor about the facility after his speech. Lumumba said the doors to Thalia Mara Hall will not be closed permanently, but he did not say when the facility would reopen.
