JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) - JXN Water customers gave their input on the city's water system on Friday.
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the U.S. Department of Justice met for the second time at the Mississippi e-Center in Jackson. The first meeting was held on Thursday.
Before officials opened the floor, they said people have told them they want local contractors, increased transparency and friendly websites. About 50 JXN Water customers attended the meeting.
Customers praised JXN Water for bringing the water system up to speed and improving water stability, but they said more work needs to be done.
“There's a great need for having greater communications and customer service functions in the City of Jackson," said one customers.
“I don't have complete faith that if we give the city control of our water system again, that they'll be able to avoid the mistakes that they had before," said Jermany Gray, another JXN Water customer.
“It's going to take a lot of time to build trust. The call center is one aspect of that, but there are several other aspects like increased public education about water quality parameters," said Aisha Carson, the lead communications officer with JXN Water.
The next opportunity for public comment will be at JXN Water's quarterly meeting on November 9 at the Summit building on Greymont Avenue.
