CLINTON, Miss. (WJTV) - A UPS driver was injured after his vehicle was hit by a train in Clinton.
Authorities responded to the incident around 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 30 near Clinton Boulevard and Lindale Street.
Officials with the City of Clinton said the UPS truck was struck near Winstead Drive and was pushed down the tracks more than half of a mile. The driver had to be extracted from the vehicle. He was transported to a local hospital by an ambulance.
Officials said the driver was responsive when he was taken from the scene. There's no word on his current condition.
Officials said the train was operated by Union Pacific. Clinton police and firefighters responded to the scene. The crash remains under investigation.
WJTV 12 News reached out to UPS about the crash. Officials said, "We’re grateful the driver is okay and can confirm they had non-life-threating injuries."
