JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) - Governor Tate Reeves (R-Miss.) delivered his State of the State address on Wednesday.
During his speech, the governor stated that 2024 was the single greatest year for the Mississippi economy. He challenged every company to come and build their products in the state.
According to Reeves, more than $32 billion has been announced for private sector investments since 2020.
"This $32 billion is a game changer for the state and citizens. Not dollars that’ll sit and collect interest. They’re being deployed in the best interest of Mississippians and make their lives better and our state stronger, working to create thousands of jobs for families who live here. It’s helping Mississippi cease the momentous economic opportunities they’ve been placed in front of us," the governor said.
The Mississippi House recently passed a bill that would eliminate the stat income tax. Reeves called on the Mississippi Senate to pass the bill.
