JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) - The Jackson City Council voted in favor of a new ward map on Monday, August 12.
The vote passed 5-1. Councilman Aaron Banks, Ward 6, said the next step is to work with the Circuit Clerk and City Clerk to verify addresses where the changes have been made and get proper notifications.
Once that's complete, the next step is to begin precinct assignments and get the information to neighbors as soon as possible.
“Mr. Grizzell and I have had Cedar Hills, which was split right in half. Now, that whole community is all a part of one ward and, hopefully, will all be a part of one precinct. So, we've got to work toward the end so that our voters won't get confused when it comes to election time," said Banks.
