JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) - Jackson police are investigating after a child was injured during a drive-by shooting.

The shooting happened at a home in the 2800 block of Charleston Drive on Wednesday, June 5.

Detective Tommie Brown said the suspects were in a white vehicle. They exited the vehicle and fired shots into the residence.

Police said a young girl at the home was grazed by one of the bullets. She was not the intended target. The child was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

The child's father talked to WJTV 12 News about the shooting. He said, "You don't know who you shooting at or who your bullets are going to hit. She is eight. She has not done nothing to nobody. She plays with a tablet on YouTube. What is she trying? Who, what? What does she do? What has she done to anybody, for anybody to want to shoot her?”

Anyone with information about the shooting can contact the Jackson Police Department (JPD) at 601-960-1234 or Crime Stoppers at 601-355-TIPS (8477).
